EMI FUJISAWA

Since Emi made copper weaving pieces, she likes to explore different types of natural materials for her work.

She has experiences of Bizen Pottery in Japan, Ancient pottery using wild clay, wood firings and kintsugi. She also has done a studio assistant at Illyria Pottery in Oxford. She also runs ceramic courses.

Her main works are matcha tea bowls and vases using hand throwing techniques.
She created her own glazing using copper, wood ash and low materials.

"Marimo Green"
She created a glazing called "Marimo Green" using copper which is the name of a special type of moss ball seen in a particular lake in Hokkaido, Japan.

"White Moss"
She has created the white texture glazing inspired by a recipe from Japanese traditional glazing technique. She has created her own recipe adapted to her own style and named this glazing "White Moss".

"Hi Glaze"
She has created a glazing which has tastes of wood firing taste using natural wood ashes with an electric kiln firing. She loves to explore using different types of wood ashes for making different effect.

"Miyako Grey"
She has created a mat white glazing inspired by a recipe from Japanese traditional glazing technique. She makes layers of this mat white glazing and another glazes to make volcano textured gray glazing. She named this glazing "Miyako Grey" from her assistant cat, Miyako.
