Group Indigo Workshop
For group booking only, up to 4 people, 4 hours
£360.00
A quiet, hands‑on workshop for small groups, focusing on one traditional Japanese technique: Shibori, Katazome, or Indigo dyeing basics for a group.
This a-day workshop is designed for those who wish to experience Japanese textile techniques in an intimate group setting.
Participants work with instant indigo vats for practical dyeing, while also having the opportunity to see Emi’s Japanese heritage indigo vat and create a tiny sample from it if they wish.
Choose One Technique
Shibori – Japanese Resist Patterning
Learn the foundations of shibori through folding, binding, stitching, and compression.
You will prepare cloth, create your pattern, and dye it in the instant indigo vat to reveal clear, expressive shapes.
Katazome Print - Japanese Rice‑Paste Resist
The traditional Japanese resist‑dye technique using handmade rice paste and stencils.
You will design your own pattern using katazome paper, carefully cutting the motif with a craft knife. After preparing your stencil, you will apply the rice paste, allow it to dry fully, and dye your cloth in the indigo vat.
Indigo Dyeing Basics
Focus on simple dipping techniques to understand how cloth transforms through oxidation.
Ideal for beginners or those wanting a gentle introduction to indigo.
