Introduction to Katazome Print with Indigo Dye - 2027 Dates

A gentle, hands‑on introduction to Japanese textile techniques in Emi’s home studio.
This short workshop offers a quiet space to explore simple katazome printing using the indigo vat.

In this session, you will learn the basics of katazome, a traditional Japanese resist‑dye technique that uses rice‑paste stencil printing. You will apply rice paste through a stencil onto cloth, allow it to dry slightly, and then dye your piece in the indigo vat to reveal the pattern.
This workshop is designed for beginners as an introduction to katazome.
The fabric size is A4.

You will create a small piece to take home, and you may also see Emi’s Japanese Heritage indigo vat during the session.

Note

This workshop is booked per person.
Dates are fixed in advance, and up to six people can join each session.

Held at Emi Fujisawa Textile Studio, Church Street, Burton Latimer.

Just a little note that our two cats may be around during the workshop.
